The study focuses on patients with coronary atherosclerosis, a condition where fatty deposits build up inside the arteries that supply blood to the heart. The investigated treatment is a combination of three oral medicines: a high‑intensity statin, either atorvastatin 40 mg or rosuvastatin 20 mg, together with bempedoic acid and ezetimibe. Statins work by lowering the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver, bempedoic acid also reduces cholesterol production, and ezetimibe lowers the amount of cholesterol absorbed from food.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate whether this triple therapy can reduce the amount of plaque in the arteries. Participants will take the medicines every day for several months. At the beginning and at the end of the study, images of the heart arteries will be taken with computed tomography to see any change in plaque, and blood samples will be collected to measure cholesterol levels, including LDL-C, which is often called “bad” cholesterol. Safety checks, such as reporting any side effects, will be performed throughout the trial.
During the trial, participants will have regular visits for medication supply, blood draws, and brief questionnaires about health status. The study will end after the planned treatment period, and the collected data will be analyzed to determine how the plaque and cholesterol levels changed and whether the treatment was well tolerated.
